Volunteer

History should not be viewed – it should be experienced. You can help people make a real connection with the past by volunteering at the Eugene and Marilyn Glick Indiana History Center. From interacting with our guests to working with our historic collections, IHS has a volunteer opportunity that’s right for you.

Be part of the Indiana Experience!

Our new experiences provide exciting volunteer opportunities for you.

Briefing Area Facilitator
Serve as a link from the present to the past, providing guests the information they need to have a rewarding visit in the You Are There and Destination Indiana experiences.

Great Hall Host
Give directions, offer advice and make recommendations to our guests.

Mezzanine Guide
Answer questions and guide guests as they explore the new Indiana Experience.

INVestigation Station Facilitator
Assist guests as they explore self-guided stations filled with Indiana history activities.

Group Visit Volunteer
Greet groups and help introduce students to the new experiences at the History Center. Volunteers may also accompany groups during their visit and be their lunchroom host. 

*Indiana Experience volunteers should be able to work a weekly or biweekly four-hour shift.

Be part of the fun!

Participate in special events, like Holiday Author Fair and Concerts on the Canal.

Special Events Volunteer
Greet guests, collect tickets or help with crafts and other activities at special events, workshops, lectures and performances.

Basile History Market
Lend at hand in the Basile History Market – no retail experience required.

*Special Events volunteers should be prepared to work at least three events per year.

Love history? Give us some hands-on help.

Collections Volunteer
Get up close and personal with Indiana history while helping with library projects, including processing items into the collections.

Conservation Volunteer
Assist conservation technicians in preserving and caring for the collections.

*Collections and Conservation volunteers work on a weekly or biweekly schedule.
