History Day Contests

History Day students show off their work to volunteer judges and the public at district, state and national competitions. Judges use evaluation sheets as a rubric to compare student projects and determine which finalists become eligible for the next level of competition.

District competitions for National History Day in Indiana occur in three locations around the state during March and April. Finalists from each district are invited to compete at the NHDI State Competition in April, where the top winners in the Junior and Senior divisions (grades six through 12) become eligible to compete at The Kenneth E. Behring National History Day Contest in College Park, Md., in June.
