Hoosier History Bowl

Ten teams from across the state competed at the 2013 Hoosier History Bowl on Saturday, April 13. River Birch Elementary in Avon won first place in the elementary school division for the second year in a row. Sts. Joan of Arc and Patrick School in Kokomo took second place. In the middle and high school division, Riverview Middle School in Huntington won first place for the fourth year in a row over Burris Lab School in Muncie by a score of 55 to 51.

This year's flash mob dance was a compilation of songs over the decades including the Twist, Thriller, YMCA and the Cotton Eyed Joe. Nearly 50 students braved the stage to do the choreographed dance. To see a video of the flash mob, click here or search YouTube for "History Bowl 2013 Flash Mob."

Two teams entered the T-Shirt contest this year. The criteria are they must be student designs, and the teams must wear the shirts to the competition. Brandywine Elementary in Greenfield won the contest for the fourth year in a row with a Red Skelton-themed design. The prize is a pizza party at their school.

Thank you to all the participating teams: Allisonville Elementary, Burris Lab School, Brandywine Elementary, Our Shepherd Lutheran School, River Birch Elementary, Riverview Middle School, Sts. Joan of Arc and Patrick School, Tzouanakis Intermediate School and Union Elementary.
