With a 20' x 35' stage, the Basile Theater is equipped with a
complete lighting and sound system operable from a rear projection
booth with backstage communication. Other in-house equipment includes
a retractable screen, VHS projector, LCD projector, slide projector,
CD and cassette player, 35mm film projector, document projector
and assisted listening devices. A podium with audio-visual controls
and a 9-foot Steinway grand piano are also available for use.
Backstage amenities include a green room, dressing rooms and rehearsal
space.
Outside the Basile Theater, a wall of floor-to-ceiling windows
overlooking the Canal creates an impressive entry to the theater.
The mezzanine style lobby is used
frequently before or after theater events for receptions, hospitality
breaks or to position vendor or display tables. Convenient to
the parking lot, it includes a box office and coatroom and opens
to the Stardust Terrace below. The
mezzanine is included with theater use or may be rented separately.
"The Indianapolis Arts
Chorale LOVES to sing at the Indiana Historical Society Theater!
The warm ambience, excellent acoustics, and intimate setting
make it one of the best places in town to sing (and hear!)
our type of choral music. Plus, the beautiful location downtown
on the scenic canal makes it second to none!"
- Eric Stark, former Artistic Director, Indianapolis Arts
Chorale
