Student Programs at Your Location

  • Suggested Group Size: Maximum of 50 students per session
  • Cost: $50 per session, plus mileage (if applicable)
  • All materials for the program are provided by the Society.
Indiana and the Civil War

For students in grades 4 through 12

This program investigates key events in the Civil War with an emphasis on Indiana’s troop contributions during the conflict. A Civil War-themed activity where students create their own regimental battle flags concludes this program.

Communication in World War II

For students in grades 4 through 12

This program introduces two Hoosier journalists, reporter Ernie Pyle and photographer John Bushemi, while discussing the broader context of the war. Students will participate in a letter-writing activity that concludes with a discussion on censorship during the war.

Madam C. J. Walker

For students in grades 4 through 12

This program discusses the famous African-American entrepreneur Madam C. J. Walker and includes a team activity where students design their own haircare product.

Famous Hoosiers

For students in grades 4 through 12

This program illustrates the diverse number of notable people from Indiana. A fast-paced round of “Famous Hoosiers Bingo” concludes this activity.

Indiana Statehood and Constitution

This program introduces the history of the beginning of our state. Students will create their own state constitution and bill of rights.

Civil Rights in Indiana

For students in grades 4 through 12

This program discusses the Civil Rights Movement in America with special emphasis on Indiana. For the group activity, students are divided into teams to participate in a mock discrimination court case complete with a judge and jury.
