Indexes/Source MaterialWhen genealogists begin searching court, government and archival records to find evidence for their ancestors, they soon realize that keys are needed to unlock many of these treasures. The keys are indexes and other data pulled from primary materials, such as registers and ledgers, to let researchers know who is included in a source and where within the source a person’s name and other information can be found. The Press began publishing these types of indexes in books during the middle of the 20th century. Shop. |
