William Ozias Taylor (1824–1897) was born in Delaware County Ohio. In 1842 he moved with his family to Pulaski County Indiana. In 1849 he married Calista Tibbits who died one year later. Shortly after coming to Indiana, Taylor spent several years driving a stage in Knox County where he met his second wife, Catherine Hewitt. He then returned to Pulaski County where he purchased a large tract of land in Franklin Township. William and Catherine Taylor had five children. In February 1865 he enlisted in the 151st Indiana Infantry and was involved in several skirmishes with Confederate troops. Catherine Hewitt Taylor died in 1868. Three years later, William Taylor married his third wife, Jane Riley and they had one child.

The collection consists of a 25-page typescript of biographical sketches of William Ozias Taylor and his descendants.
