SCOPE AND CONTENT NOTE

This collection consists of a typescript article submitted by David A. Gross to the Publications Division of the Indiana Historical Society for possible publication in Traces of Indiana and Midwestern History.  The article discusses the history of baseball at Indiana University in Bloomington (Monroe County), Indiana in the nineteenth-century from its origins as a club sport to intercollegiate competition.  It gives accounts and highlights of the university team from the 1860s to 1899. It also includes won-lost records for Indiana University in intercollegiate play from 1883 to 1899.
