HISTORICAL SKETCH

Sue Beach, of Muncie, Indiana, has done research on some of her ancestors, notably the Healey, Braden, and Jenners families, and has collected the results in two photocopied books. The first is entitled The Ancestors of Vera Voynne Healey (1898-1975), and contains annotated genealogical material, largely on the Healey family of Rensselaer. One prominent individual is Brigadier General George H. Healey (1872-1945) who led troops in Mexico and in World War I, had a command in the National Guard, and was publisher of the Rensselaer Republican and the Frankfort Crescent-News.

The second book is entitled Letters and Papers of the Braden and Jenners Families August 14, 1784 - August 8, 1969. One important group of letters in this volume is the Civil War letters of Robert F. Braden (1833-1877), serving in Missouri and Arkansas as an officer of the 26th Indiana Regiment. Many of these letters were printed in Indiana Historical Bulletin in August 1964. Braden remained in the service until 1868, and then was connected with the Clinton County Bank in Frankfort.
