Joseph Nurrenbern (Nurenbern, Nurenbernd) took the Commercial course at St. Meinrad's College in 1888-1889. He rated "Very Good" in Health and "Middling" in Progress in Studies.
Ben J. Nurrenbern, living in Evansville, bought a pair of grindstones in 1892. The 1922 Evansville directory lists Ben J. Nurrenbern as head of a furniture store of the same name.
Frank Nurrenbern sold two loads of wheat to the E. H. Morris Elevator in Evansville in 1941. He is not listed in the 1941 Evansville directory.
Available Vanderburgh County histories do not list any Nurrenberns.
This collection, filling one folder, contains school reports, correspondence, and scale tickets, dating 1888-1941. It is arranged chronologically.
The collection begins with Joseph Nurrenbern's records from St. Meinrad's College in 1888-1889. There is also a letter to him ("My dear little Josie") from a former classmate, Frank Ankenbrock.
There are two letters, dated 1889 and 1890, to Friend George from Joseph Scheller in Ridgway, Gallatin County, Illinois. Scheller spells with a German accent.
Next comes a letter from J. B. Lubbers of St. Henry (near Ferdinand) billing Ben J. Nurrenbern of Evansville for two grindstones.
Finally there are two scale tickets for wheat issued by E. M. Morris Elevator in Evansville to Frank Nurrenbern in 1941.
