BIOGRAPHICAL SKETCH

William D. Alexander, apparently a student at the time, used part of this notebook, first as a copy book, and then as a commonplace book. A sample bill of sale at the beginning of his part of the book is dated 1862.

SCOPE AND CONTENT

This collection contains one item, a notebook which was apparently used by different people at different times, about 1826 and about 1862.

The first twelve pages contain clippings pasted in under the main headings BANK, TARIFF, and the names Jefferson, Madison, Monroe, and Jackson. Also pasted in is an unsigned note dated 1826.

The following pages were used as a copy book and then as a commonplace book, apparently by William D. Alexander about 1862.
