Caroline McMath (Goodwin Harvey) (ca 1901 - 1975) was born in Indianapolis. She graduated from Indiana University in 1921 and earned an MD degree in 1923. Her first husband was John K. Goodwin, president of the Indiana Veneer and Lumber Company. They had a son and two daughters. During her years in Indianapolis, Mrs. Goodwin was active in civic affairs, including the Parent Teachers Association, League of Women Voters, Council of Social Agencies, and Community Chest. She was a trustee of Hanover College.
On Mr. Goodwin's death in 1958, his widow married Thomas P. Harvey, and moved to West Hartford, Conn.
The subject of Mrs. Harvey's paper, Edith Mahone (Arnold) (1901-1987), was born in Talbot County, Georgia. She lived for many years in Indianapolis, and was a member of Mount Paran Baptist Church. She married B. Arnold, but they had no children.

This collection, filling one folder, contains photocopies of a club paper written by Mrs. Harvey about Mrs. Arnold in the 1940s, and funeral notices of both women. The paper, entitled "The Florence Nightingale of 28th Street," describes Edith Arnold's devotion to giving care to those who needed it, especially babies and the very old.
