After the admission of Ohio as a state in 1803, Indiana Territory included the rest of the Northwest Territory. After Michigan Territory was set off in 1805 and Illinois Territory in 1809, Indiana Territory was restricted to the present state boundaries. In 1816, Harrison County included, in addition to its present area, parts of present-day Crawford, Orange, Floyd, and Clark Counties.
