BIOGRAPHICAL SKETCH

Mary Jones lived in Newport, Vermillion County, Indiana, in the 1840s. She was on friendly terms with the ladies of the Judah family in Vincennes.


SCOPE AND CONTENT

This collection contains two letters to Mary Jones from members of the Judah family then living in Vincennes. In a letter of 6-30-1844 Caroline Judah thanks Jones for hospitality during a recent visit, describes a barn raising, and mentions local ladies. In a letter of 7-9-1848, Catharine Judah describes local comings and goings and a marriage.
