This collection, filling one folder, contains court records and other legal documents dated 1863-1897.
Most of the records have apparently been cut from Justice of the Peace ledgers. They come in three groups. The first group, paged 253-258, records cases in July 1863 dealing with the sale of intoxicating liquors (in half pints). The second group, paged 273-282 and dating from November 1863, records cases of selling intoxicating liquors (five cases), theft of small items (two cases), trespass, and fear of bodily harm. The third group, paged 15-18 and dated November 1864, deals with stray horses and with the racing of horses through town "to the terror of citizens."
There follow a paternity suit of 1895 by a lady "pregnant with a bastard child," and three 1897 affidavits about "playing with dice." Stored separately in OM 128 is an 1895 marriage license.
