W. C. Mahan in 1881-1882 ran a Landing on the east (West Virginia) side of the Ohio River, probably on the stretch between Steubenville and Marietta, Ohio.
This collection contains two items, both bills of lading to W. C. Mahan of Mahan's Landing, West Virginia. The first, dated 12-19-1881, is from J. H. Best of Marietta for two barrels of meal. The second, dated 2-7-1882, is from Jefferson Iron Works of Steubenville for six kegs of nails.
The two documents bear variations of the same logo, a boat landing with both a railroad train and a river steamer.
