This collection contains one item, a letter written about 1850 by Anna L. Bement in Vincennes, Indiana, to William H. Law in Evansville. She describes her trip with her husband from Evansville to Vincennes, first by boat up the Wabash River to the rapids, then by hiring a wagon and buying a pair of horses. There is some discussion of future travel by boat if the river should rise. Though some at Vincennes think the town will soon outdistance Evansville, she "would not live here," feeling that Evansville was Paris in comparison.
