Bernard Korbly (1875-1939) was born in Madison, but moved to Indianapolis (Irvington) and established a legal practice in partnership with John G. McNutt. Between 1912 and 1916 he was Democratic State Chairman. He also served as general cousel for Indianapolis Power and Light Company. At his funeral there were over seventy honorary pallbearers, including Governor Paul McNutt, Mayor Reginald Sullivan, and Senator Frederick VanNuys. He had two sons, Bernard, Jr., and John Paul, who in 1947 were continuing his legal practice with offices at 117 East Washington Street.
The family had a place on Hickory Knob in Brown County, several log cabins put together. It was used mainly for weekends by the family and their friends and relatives.

Materials in collection
This collection consists of one item, the register of "Korbly Cabins" from 1927 to 1948. The entries up to 1935 are brief. From then on they are rather chatty, like diary entries, describing weather, work done on the cabins, and convivial times. There are a few simple drawings.
