BIOGRAPHICAL SKETCH

Dr. James Hays lived in Albemarle County, Virginia, between 1799 and 1820. His wife's name was Mary.

John Coles Tilley (d. 1894) apparently lived in both Hendricks and Putnam Counties, Indiana. During the Civil War he served in the 55th Indiana Regiment. His wife's name was Virginia. He was buried at Deer Creek Church in Putnam County. His youngest sister, Mary Elizabeth Tilley (1853-1934), was married to Jefferson Hurst in 1881. A daughter of John C. Tilley, Laura May Tilley, was born in Hendricks County. She married Doren Davis in 1900. Oscar Tilley, apparently a son of John C. Tilley, died in 1909.
