Work on the Anderson, Lebanon St. Louis Railroad (also called the Chicago
Southeastern) began in 1875, although planning had commenced four years
earlier. Colonel T.N. Stilwell was the railroad's first president. Progress on
the railroad's construction was slowed by the refusal of many

The records consist of 19 items regarding the financial status and general operation of the Anderson, Lebanon St. Louis Railroad from 1878-1886. Included are correspondence and statements regarding right of way, corporate and individual claims, and passes with other railroads. James A. Larnerd was superintendent of the railroad during the period when most of the items in the collection were written.
