HISTORICAL AND BIOGRAPHICAL SKETCH

Francis Flint (fl. 1862-1865) was a resident of York Centre, Indiana (Steuben Co.). He was mustered into service with the 100th Indiana Regiment, Company B, as a corporal in August 1862. He was mustered out as sergeant in June 1865.

The 100th Indiana Regiment (1862-1865) was mustered into service in September 1862. It moved to Memphis, and was assigned to the Second Brigade, First Division, Army of the Tennessee. In June 1863, the regiment took part in the siege of Vicksburg, and after the surrender of the city, moved with Sherman's army upon Jackson, Mississippi. The 100th Indiana returned to Memphis before joining Sherman's campaign through Georgia. It then marched through the Carolinas and Virginia before being mustered out in June 1865. During its existence, the regiment marched over 4000 miles and participated in 25 battles and countless skirmishes.
