A resident of Augusta, Marion County, Indiana, George W. Norwood enlisted in Company K Fifty Second Indiana regiment on August 18, 1862. He was mustered out June 3, 1865 in Montgomery, Alabama, after fighting in a number of battles including the Battle of Nashville.
