In the summer of 1982 a group of Shortridge alumni formed a committee to investigate the possibility of publishing and marketing a history of Shortridge High School from 1864 through 1981.
Under the leadership of Frank Snyder a group was formed to crystallize plans for the project. The committee selected Alex Clark as a general chairman and Senator Richard G. Lugar as honorary chairman. Following the solicitation of resumes and interviews in March 1983 Laura Gaus was selected to write the history. The book was published in 1985.

This collection includes the records of the Shortridge High School History Project Steering Committee. For the most part they are arranged in the order in which they were received from the committee. Materials in the collection include organizational, financial and operational records, minutes, publicity and marketing records, photographs of the 20 November 1985 book signing party, and class rosters.
