Vladimir Posvar (1902-ca 1980) was born in Butler County, Kansas, the son of Czech immigrants. He left home at fifteen to enlist in the army in World War I. In the course of a long career as a journalist, he served on the staff of eleven newspapers: in Topeka, Kansas City, Cleveland, Cincinnati, and Detroit; and finally on the Indianapolis Times and then the Star. His work took him on many travels, including Santo Domingo and the European Theater of World War II.
Source: Materials in collection
This collection, filling one small manuscript box, contains drafts of autobiographical chapters submitted about 1980 by Vladimir Posvar to the donor, Lawrence Connor of the Indianapolis Star. The stories tend to be picaresque and humorous, including the titles, such as "Did I Give Carole Lombard the Kiss of Death?" and "Celebrities I Have Interviewed: Winston Churchill Shook His Cane at Me and Said, 'Only a Cad Would Ask That Question.'"
