HISTORICAL SKETCH

The Allisonville Circuit of the Methodist Episcopal Church was set up in 1850, "formed of appointments taken from Noblesville and Greenfield Circuits and Indianapolis East Mission." The Circuit met quarterly. It paid one or two ministers to serve several congregations, and at one time was maintaining as many as seven Sunday Schools. The records usually mention congregations at Allisonville, Millersville, and Castleton, along with locations less easily identified: Bethel, Concord, Hopewell, Key Point, Kratzers, Perseverance, Washington, and Zion Chapel.
