HISTORICAL SKETCH

 The Independent Order of Odd Fellows is a secret fraternal society that evolved in late 18th century England. The origin of the name Odd Fellows cannot be traced. The American order was founded in 1819.

 This collection consists of a minute book kept by the Independent Order of Odd Fellows, Lodge No. 629, in New Amsterdam, Indiana (Harrison Co.). The entries date from February 17, 1887 to June 24, 1893.
