SCOPE AND CONTENT NOTE

This collection consists of a 235-page estray book (1801-1818) from Clark County in the Indiana Territory. Although the front page reads "Estray Book 1802", the first entry is for November, 1801. The book lists stray animals collected by individuals in the county and reported to county officials. It also lists descriptive brands for various owners within the county. Some of the descriptions of the animals are quite detailed.

The microfilmed copy of the estray book is on a partial roll of microfilm. It is the first of five collections on the roll.
