BIOGRAPHICAL SKETCH

  William Jarard ran a general store in Union, Franklin County, Indiana , between 1858 and 1864. A good deal of the trade seems to have been by barter-- farm products such as butter and eggs for merchandise. Jarard's name (in any variation: Jerard, Gerard, Garard) does not appear in any Franklin County source.

This collection consists of a ledger for the years 1858-1864, with most entries from 1859 to 1862.
