HISTORICAL SKETCH

 The Lake Erie and Western Railroad ran from Cleveland through Indiana on an east-west line a little north of Indianapolis, through Muncie and Frankfort. The Fort Wayne, Cincinnati and Louisville ran north-and-south through Muncie and New Castle.


SCOPE AND CONTENT

 This register of ticket sales and freight shipments covers the years 1927-1930 at the Springport and Mt. Summit stations on the railroad's north-south line, in Henry County a few miles north of New Castle. Ticket destinations shown include Ft. Wayne, Muncie, Shideler near Muncie, New Castle, Connersville, Cambridge City, and Eaton. Freight shipments include coal, stone, oil, cement, fertilizer, stock, steel, and manure.
