SCOPE AND CONTENT

This collection consists of two looseleaf notebooks.

BV 1748 is the record book of reunions of First Infantry Company, Second Officers Training Camp at Fort Benjamin Harrison, from 1919 to 1962. It includes notices of meetings, minutes, mailing lists, newsletters, and attendance lists. This was a social group, simply the annual reunion of a World War I service group. Attendance at reunions ran between twelve and twenty.

BV 1749 contains family history collected by the donor, Florence Baxter Thornton (b. 1879). There are typed accounts, photographs, and photostats of letters and documents. Pages are numbered, and there is a table of contents. Some of the families documented are: Baxter, Jordan, Goodlin, Ansley, McLaughlin, Kimberley, and Riggs.

Originals of some of the Jordan and McLaughlin documents and letters are in SC 1030, McLaughlin-Jordan Papers, also given by the donor; she also produced a book about the Baxter family which is in the Genealogy Division of Indiana State Library.
