BIOGRAPHiCAL SKETCH

Camp Carrington, in Indianapolis, was originally built in 1862, near present-day West 15th St. and Missouri St.  The camp was initially named Camp Murray, but was later renamed Camp Carrington after General Henry B. Carrington.  It was the largest military camp in the state, and it replaced Camp Morton as the main training camp for Union soldiers.  The camp lasted until the end of the Civil War in 1865.  There were also no definitive records of Private Daniel H. McMillin.
