BIOGRAPHiCAL SKETCH

J. W. Cutler is likely John W. Cutler, who enlisted on 9 August 1862 as a private into “B” Company, 79th Regiment Indiana Infantry. He was killed on 2 January 1863 at Stone’s River, Tennessee.

SCOPE AND CONTENT NOTE

The collection consists of one letter written to J. W. Cutler from Lucinda C. on 4 October 1862. Lucinda may have been Cutler’s fiancé as she briefly mentions marriage plans.
