Beecher was a schoolteacher in Murfreesboro and Lebanon, Tenn.; he was the son of Truman Beecher, a merchant in Hamilton, Steuben County, Indiana (1840s), and Albion, Noble County, Indiana (1849-1850).
The papers consist principally of letters to Beecher in Tennessee from his father and other family members in Hamilton and Albion (1848-1850). Also included are letters of introduction for Beecher (1848); family and business letters to Truman Beecher (1832-1850); receipts; and announcements for Beecher's schools in Tennessee.
