Forest Fleming Garrett (1891–1949) was a teacher at North Ward School in Hartford City from ca. 1910 to the time of her death in 1949. Her daughter, Delpha C. Garrett Hoist, was a student at North Ward School. Garrett was the widow of D. C. Garrett (1891–1914). She is buried at Montpelier, Indiana.
North Ward Elementary School housed elementary and junior secondary students between its opening in 1905 and its demolition in 1960.

The collection consists of fifteen black-and-white photographs that represent facets of the family life and career of Forest Fleming Garrett. Images include interior and exterior shots of North Ward School, including teachers and students. Among those depicted in the school portraits are Forest Garrett's daughter, Delpha C. Garrett Hoist, and her husband, Delpha C. Garrett.
The collection is divided into three series. Series 1: Forest Garrett, ca. 1910, contains four photographs of Garrett at varying ages posed with students, teachers, and members of what may be a dramatic club. Series 2: North Ward School, ca. 1910–ca. 1930, contains eight photographs of teachers and students in classrooms at North Ward School, and one photograph of the school exterior. Series 3: Delpha C. Garrett, ca. 1898–ca. 1913, consists of two photographs of Forest Garrett's husband as a small child at Blake's School in Jackson Township, and as a young man.
