SCOPE AND CONTENT NOTE

This collection contains photographs from an album that cover the years 1906–1923. Most images however date to the World War I era 1914–1919.  The 4x5 inch or smaller black and white photographs are mostly of Indianapolis with a few images of Washington D.C. and the Indiana towns of Lawrence, Whitestown, and Rosston.  Subjects include celebrations at the end of World War I, downtown Indianapolis, Indianapolis parks, parades, Riverside Park, fires, and President Wilson visiting for the Indiana Centennial.

The photographs were removed from the album by the donor because of its poor condition. The photographs however are in good condition. He also numbered the photographs in the upper left corner according to their place in the album; consequently they are not in chronological order.

The collection guide lists each numbered image with the descriptions and dates taken from the photographs.  Most photographs have a description written on both front and back and some also have notes regarding lens settings and climate conditions.  The processor supplied some descriptions and those are in square brackets [ ]. The photographer is unknown.  The donor believed that the photographer may be the man pictured in images #189, 190, 191, and [192] and thought his last name might have been Dawson.
