SCOPE AND CONTENT NOTE

This collection is a scrapbook of political articles and items.  The focus is on the Republican Party in Nebraska for the period of 1939–1942 and the war-time restrictions on paper.  The collection is mainly newspaper articles pasted on scrapbook pages.

The beginning of the collection is arranged by 5 districts as each area reported on Republican political news.  It then shifted to a focus on clippings on the Republican Party during 1940 and the various election campaigns, focusing on Bert Carpenter.

The second folder focuses on paper shortages and paper rationing during World War II, as Bert Carpenter was also the vice-president of the Carpenter Paper Company. There are also a few articles on the Republican Party after the 1940 election.  Clippings that came loose from the scrapbook pages were also placed in this folder.

This scrapbook was organized on behalf of G. E. (Bert) Carpenter, who was running for the position of national committeeman for the state of Nebraska for the Republican Party.

The collection ranges from 1936–1945 and is arranged in the beginning by district chronologically and then simply chronologically.
