historicaL SKETCH

Founded in 1896 the Hebrew-Union Veterans Association of the Civil War Veterans, which soon after became the Jewish War Veterans of the USA (JWV), the JWV remains the oldest continuously operating veterans group in the United States. It is a national veteran’s organization devoted to fostering Americanism, supporting the education of ex-servicemen and ex-servicewomen, preserving the history and records of Jewish veterans, contributing to the greater community, and combating anti-Semitism domestically and internationally.

In 1934 the JWV national organization approved the charter of Indianapolis Post #114. At some point, Post 114 ceased operating before being revived through the efforts of Paul Goldstein in 1992.

Post Commanders during this period included: Paul Goldstein (1993–1994), Shep Cutler (1994–1995), Harry Bunn (1995–1997), Larry Kaseff (1997–1999), Dave Fogle (1999–2000), and David Weintraub (2000–2002).
