SCOPE AND CONTENT NOTE

The collection consists of over two hundred letters written to Agnes by friends, family, servicemen, and love interests during World War II.  Letters from Agnes’s sisters describe office work, staff comings and goings, family news, and get-togethers.  Frequent mention is made of Service Club dances and dates.  Enlisted men who are friends of Agnes write to her as well, describing their experiences.  There are numerous letters from Agnes’s boyfriends.

In addition to the letters, there is a small amount of material relating to her employment such as pay stubs, expense account booklets, and information on her disability plan.  Three other folders contain information on the U.S. School of Music, a home study program in which Agnes enrolled; various receipts; and other general materials.
