BIOGRAPHiCAL SKETCH

The Kessler-Riverview Neighborhood Association (Indianapolis, Ind.) was formed in 1967 “to achieve stability in an attractive neighborhood in that part of Indianapolis bounded by the White River on the west and north, College Avenue on the east, and the Indianapolis Water Company canal on the south.”  The organization was active in maintaining the area’s beauty and safety and establishing a sense of community among the residents.

SCOPE AND CONTENT NOTE

The Kessler-Riverview Neighborhood Association records contain the meeting minutes, correspondence, membership lists, and activities for the organization, 1967–70 and 1978–82.  Issues included in the materials are neighborhood stabilization, schools and school boundaries, flood control, crime and neighborhood safety, snow removal, trash pickup, community activities, and relations with other neighborhood associations.
