Historical SKETCH

A. Ketring (fl. 1860s–70s) operated a dry goods store in Syracuse and Warsaw, Kosciusko County, Indiana, in the 1860s and 1870s.

SCOPE AND CONTENT NOTE

Comprising four bound volumes, the collection contains three daily business ledgers for A. Ketring’s dry goods store in Syracuse, Indiana, 1868–73, and a day book (BV 3282) listing his client’s financial records, 1867–69.  The ledgers list individual accounts including items purchased, amounts received, and daily monetary totals.  Two volumes (BV 3279–3280) from Ketring’s Syracuse business cover the years 1868–69 and 1872–73, and one volume (BV 3281) is from Ketring’s Warsaw store from the years 1867–68.
