Holiday Luncheon with Susan and Zerelda

For the final family program celebrating the Year of the Wallace Women, the General Lew Wallace Study and Museum in Crawfordsville is hosting a Holiday Lunch with Susan and Zerelda from noon to 3 p.m. on Dec. 9, 2007, in the museum’s Carriage House Interpretive Center. Living history re-enactors will portray Susan Elston Wallace, wife of Lew Wallace; and his stepmother, noted suffragist and temperance activist Zerelda Sanders Wallace. Guests will enjoy personally interacting with the re-enactors over a delightful lunch provided by Elaine’s Tea Room and Catering.

Guests can sit with either Susan or Zerelda to find out a little more about these remarkable women and then enjoy the opportunity to chat with them. Susan will be played by JoAnn Fox, reprising the role from the exhibit opening in March. JoAnn is a retired teacher who now educates at the Indiana State Museum through first-person interpretation of historic women. Zerelda will be played by Kara Edie, visitor services and marketing coordinator for the museum. Following the visit with the Wallace women, young participants can make a Victorian Christmas ornament to take home for their own tree.

The program fee is $5 for members of the Lew Wallace Study Preservation Society and $6 for non-members. To register for this family program, call (765) 362-5769.
