The Terminal Tower office building and Cleveland Union Terminal shared this barrel-vaulted
entry lobby on Public Square. Although the Terminal Group was in every sense a
bold and modern commercial development that centered around the Terminal Tower
skyscraper, the design of the complex still incorporated classically inspired
design elements such as recessed coffers in the lobby ceiling, pilasters, friezes,
and arched openings. In this view from the late 1980s, the lobby is under restoration
as part of the Tower City Center redevelopment project. (Jeffrey T. Darbee)
