Built in an era when integration of art and architecture was common, Cincinnati Union Terminal featured some two dozen huge mosaics depicting historical themes, local industries, and construction of the terminal. Above the arrival and departure boards were the rear and head ends, respectively, of the appropriately named “Modern Limited,” not the name of a real train but symbolic of the entire terminal project.
