
The 1932 concourse had four sets of paired doors on either side that led to enclosed
stairways down to track level. The concourse replaced the 1895 train shed, which
itself incorporated elements of the 1876 union depot. The architectural design
of the concourse was a stylized, pared-down version of the Beaux-Arts style in
which the arcade and the main part of the depot had been built. Note, for example,
the shallow paired pilasters along the wall, with the suggestion of a classical
