Pride IN History
Oct. 22, 2015
6:30 to 8 p.m.
Frank and Katrina Basile Theater
October is LGBT History Month. Join us for a discussion about how museums discuss the history of and connect with LGBT communities.
Susan Ferentinos will present information from her book, Interpreting LGBT History at Museums and Historic Sites. Dr. Ferentinos notes that an "accurate telling of the past can build a bridge of understanding between contemporary debates and the historical context needed to understand them."
Joining her will be Indianapolis photographer Mark A. Lee. He will connect Dr. Ferentinos's work with his experience as a guest curator of the exhibition based on his work on view at the History Center Oct. 10 through Nov. 14.
After the talk, Dr. Ferentinos will be available to sign copies of her book in the lobby and Mr. Lee will provide information on the IHS LGBT collecting initiative.
