Local Food Potluck
Feb. 9
Eugene and Marilyn Glick Indiana History Center
5:30 to 6:30 p.m. (Visit Making a Jewish Home)
6:30 to 7:30 p.m. (Meal and conversation)
The Food Coalition of Central Indiana and Indiana Historical Society invite you to share a meal together at the Eugene and Marilyn Glick Indiana History Center in celebration of the IHS’s newest Indiana Experience offering, You Are There 1950: Making a Jewish Home. Prior to enjoying a potluck meal made from local ingredients, step back in time to April 5, 1950, and meet the Kaplan family in their Union Street home a year after their resettlement in Indianapolis from a post-World War II displaced persons camp. Join Mrs. Kaplan as she prepares a kosher meal and discover the family’s story of tragedy, courage and new beginnings. Learn how Hoosier hospitality helped the Kaplans create a new home in an Indianapolis Southside neighborhood. (Destination Indiana, an interactive digital journey through the IHS image collections, will also be open.)
As always, you are "challenged" to bring something local! Simply bring a potluck/pitch-in dish to share made with locally grown/produced food. Dining ware will be limited. Please bring your own plate and utensils for yourself and your family, if possible. We will have a few to spare and will also provide water and coffee.
RSVPs required. Contact Erin Kelley at ekelley@indianahistory.org or (317) 234-3161.
Think Reduce, Reuse, Recycle, Recover.
