Growing Little Leaves: Family Traditions (for adults)
Dec. 6, 2015
1 to 3 p.m.
Day Classroom, History Center
How do you explain family traditions from different cultures, religions or time periods while also getting children interested in history and reading? American Girl and My Name is America books are great places to start.
This program examines family traditions using the books and explores how these family traditions can teach children about different religions, cultures and time periods. American Girl and My Name is America are readily available at libraries and bookstores, but aren't necessary to participate in the program. All materials are provided. The program meets Indiana education standards in History and English/Language Arts, and a lesson plan will be available to anyone who wants to teach children. While lesson plans are provided for teachers and homeschool parents, this program would be great for parents, grandparents, librarians, and anyone else with an interest in teaching a child about family traditions.
This program is eligible for 2 LEUs.
