Growing Little Leaves

1 to 3 p.m.
Crown Hill Cemetery
Introducing children to genealogy is something many parents and grandparents desire to do but few know how to implement. "Growing Little Leaves" is a new IHS series created to meet this need.
This program, designed for children ages 5 to 10 and their adult caregivers, will take place in Indianapolis's Crown Hill Cemetery. Learn basic cemetery etiquette, participate in a simple scavenger hunt to search out unique gravestone carvings and symbolism, and go on a brief tour of the cemetery. Our goal is to teach children to not be afraid of cemeteries and to learn that they can be sources of information.
Presenter Emily Kowalski Schroeder is a genealogist, blogger, mother of two and a meteorologist. Growing Little Leaves is based on her blog of the same title.
Members $5 for first child; $3 for each additional child; nonmembers $8 for first child; $3 for each additional child; adults are free with children.
Registration includes Crown Hill Cemetery tour, supplies and an admission ticket to the Indiana Experience.
