The Civil War touched countless families in the United States. Fortunately, it is a time period rich in records. Discover sources that will help you identify your Civil War ancestors and learn about resources that will help you recreate their lives during the war years.

Amy Johnson Crow, MLIS, CG, is a writer, editor, researcher and lecturer. She is the genealogical content manager for Archives.com. Amy is a former editor of Ohio Civil War Genealogy Journal and is active in the Indiana Genealogical Society.
