The Paradise and Devil’s Café, circa 1910

Pantelis Cafouros owned the Paradise and Devil’s Café at 108 W. Maryland St. in Indianapolis. Mrs. Cafouros, who did not speak English, objected to the name of the restaurant when she discovered what it meant. Pantelis remodeled the restaurant into two eateries, and his wife worked in “The Paradise.”
